When I paint I begin by building. I think of the way I work as building paintings rather than painting them. I use painting as the primary subject
of my work and more specifically the function and role of the wall. The structure, the process, the procedure, and the presentation are all
components of my painting experience.
I enjoy the idea that paintings are still very accessible because of the convenience of where they are displayed. Paintings are for walls and they
hold their own space on those walls. I intend to have these paintings occupy a sense of space and maintain a presence on the wall. My paintings
are not only objects in their space, but they exist in yours.
The space supports the paintings and often times interacts with them. The relationships between space and painting, painting and structure, and
structure and wall are an ongoing occurrence and a growing concept for my current work.
